Jerry Yan Fan Meet in Manila 2004

My first time to see Jerry Yan at NBC Tent for Bench endorsement. I ask my brother Azrael to cover the event. His first experience in vlogging! I'll write a blog post about this memorable-chaotic-unforgettable experience!

On August 15 we learned on Dr. Wenyong Hou's miniblog that Jerry visited the Center which was in dire need of financial assistance. To carry out our charitable m...ission as always and to further Jerry's good deed, we started the worldwide fund-raising for the children within our club.

The fund-raising run went from August 16 to 23. The total donations received amounted NT$250,000. We thank all members who have participated around world!

On August 28 ten members of yanchengxu.net visited the Center. They presented the donation and daily necessity goods to the children.

The Center spent NT$100,000 to purchase the following:
School supplies, sports equipment, children's medication and medical equipment needed for general care. The Center also purchased children's electronic scale and stadiometer, baby scale and wooden height measuring device. The babies can now be measured accurately. (They use to be measured together with an adult and the reading had to be calculated by subtracting the adult's weight.)

A simple ceremony was held in the small hall for the presentation of the gifts. First Father Yang gave a quick status report. It followed by children's performance, gift presentation, and finally the group photo.

In Father's report he provided the background information about the Center. He also discussed the financial difficulties of operation. Currently the Center is the home for 15 babies and toddlers, 15 elementary school kids, 15 middle school kids and 10 high school kids.

As for baby supplies, there are one year worth of dippers and 3 months worth of baby formulas. The most needed is school tuition for all children.

Finally the best at the last. The most interesting was the interaction with Father Yang. He entertained us with a great sense of humor. He also shared quite a few details about Jerry during his visit.

Although Jerry was trying to disguise himself under the extremely low baseball cap, the children who all have watched [Down with Love] had no difficulties recognizing him immediately. However Father and children played along with Jerry and pretended they didn't know him!

Father asked us why he would wear the cap, and lowered it so much. We replied that he wanted to be low key. Father said please tell him don't wear it next time because we all know who he is! But, we say, he has already made it a habit. Father said well then, I'll have all the children wearing caps too!

We asked about Jerry's magic show. The plan was to have a kid named Hsiaomao perform the magic trick. However it did not work out as planed at all. Therefore Jerry took over the job. How did Jerry do we asked anxiously. Well, father said, the show started so badly even Jerry could not save it! Laughters broke out among the children who were standing around and listening to our conversation. It looks like they did have a great time with Jerry on that day.
