Jerry Yan's autograph session in Taipei last weekend was held up shortly when part of the stage suddenly collapsed.
A cracking sound was heard first followed by the centre stage suddenly caving in. Yan was stunned for a moment, then rushed down the stage immediately and instructed the media to leave the area. He laughed embarrassedly, "I was the first person to run down the stage."
Yan added, "It's really nerve wrecking. I don't wish for any accident to happen." The autograph session was thus held up for repair work to be done.
Five years since his debut album, Yan's autograph session at Taipei Breeze Center attracted more than 2,000 fans, with each of them buying at least six copies of the album.
The thoughtful idol continued signing for four hours from 3pm to 7pm and still had to let some fans go home without an autographed copy of their album. With a copy of the album priced at NT$420 (about S$21), Yan is estimated to have earned about NT$5million (S$250,000).
On a separate occasion, Taiwanese celebrities Vanness Wu and Terri Kwan expressed their compliments for Yan's vocals; Yan's rumoured ex-girlfriend Lin Chi-ling appeared a little evasive when asked about him, but still expressed her wishes though she has not heard his album.
